Sahara Emperor Bowl by Randi Solin
7 x 6.5 x 6.5 in
A Solinglass original created by Randi Solin, known in the world of contemporary art glass for her unique style and coloration process. The idea behind Randi Solin’s Emperor Bowl series is based on an ancient pottery form, designed to hold one flower. Asian-influenced forms lend themselves well to her coloration style, and the Emperor Bowl lends itself particularly well to the magnification of her optics, which is an important component of Randi Solin’s work.
Created in her studio, Solinglass, this hand blown, free form glass off the pipe, with a multi-layering coloration built from glass rod, earth tone powders and frit, black cane, gold ruby frit, and multiple sheets of sterling silver leaf. The coloration is finished with a band composed of seven glass powders producing “brush stroke” striations. Cut and polished top.
