Masala Flat Glass Vessel by Randi Solin
A Solinglass original created by master glassblower Randi Solin, known in the world of contemporary art glass for her unique style and coloration process. Her approach to the series of Flat Vessels is more like that of a painter than a glassblower. Atypical to a more traditional approach to blown glass, the idea behind these pieces was to create a simple form that allowed a 'canvas' for her complex and multi-layered glass compositions.
Hand-shaped free blown glass off the pipe with a multi-layering coloration built from seven different glass powders applied one teaspoon at a time in the style of a Tibetan sand painting. A final coloration layer of large gold aventurine frit, apricot, gold ruby, and hand cut sterling silver foil is encased in a layer of clear glass. Flat cut and polished top.
